Week 4 - Mon, Sept 20 - graveling

Today they graveled the floors in the basement and garage.
You can see the perforated pipe weaving around - that's for radon and excess water.

Week 3 - Sept 14 - patching & waterproofing

September 14, Tuesday

Today was the damp-proofing day. The lines show the level for damp-proofing and backfill. The damp-proofers convinced us to go with a more expensive stuff (that they called "water-proofing") that was more rubbery and was warrantied for 2 years, for an extra $200. It seemed like a pretty good deal, especially if it helps keep out water, right? Hopefully we won't be upgrading too many more things or our budget will be shot. (shotter?)

Sept 11, 13 - Removing the Forms

Saturday, September 11, 2010

They removed the forms from the foundation. On Monday, Sept 13, they spray-painted an orange line on the foundation to show where the damp-proofing should go.

My future storage room!! I'm so excited to fill it with canned beans . . . and dried beans . . . and Christmas stuff . . . and firearms (to protect my Christmas stuff in the case of a natural disaster, of course. Those durn looters.)

(Okay, just in case you don't know me well enough and are hoping to visit the family compound, there will be no firearms. I was just kidding. I can't help my sarcasm. Blame Dad.)

Sept 10 - Pouring the Foundation Walls

Big day. Foundation forms were finished. The foundation was poured. 9 cement trucks, a pump truck, and 6 pickup trucks were there (7 workers plus cement crews).

Sept 2 - footings poured

Thursday, September 2, 2010

The footings forms were finished in the morning. The inspector (we assume) came out and checked the forms. The cement trucks showed up and poured the footings. Victoria sent me updates of the goings on via cell phone pics while I was attending a mediation.

We took these pictures at night, which helps explain why Mike has so many limbs.

August 31, Sept 1 - prepping the footings

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Chad came out and measured out and plotted the foundation. He placed little stakes in the corners and ran string in between. So, we could get an idea of how the house is going to look.
