Week 4 - Tues, Sept 21 - big rocks

So, as we mentioned, our basement is 4 feet out of the ground, so on the front, the ground was built up. On the east side, we have 3 windows, so it would make sense to leave the ground level, right? Right. However, there are some pipes that will be leaving the house at main floor level, so the ground has to be built up there. That left us with two options: First, put in full window wells that would actually be higher than ground level (inexpensive but awkward and ugly); and second, put rock landscaping around the windows, still allowing the ground to be built up in between (expensive, but beautiful.) Well, it just would have been weird and ugly to have window wells that you had to build up the ground to cover - so we went with the rocks. There goes another couple fistfuls. But, it will be lovely - more pics to come.
